How to Clean and Sterilize a Sponge

Author: Momma

This is how I clean and sterilize my sponges. I always use sterile sponges when doing any of my housekeeping services.

I rinse out the sponge in the sink. I make sure there are no suds. Make sure the sponge is still wet. Don’t squeeze the water out. A dry sponge may catch fire.

I put the wet sponge into the microwave. I microwave ordinary sized sponges for two minutes on the highest power setting. For your safety please do not leave the microwave unattended.

I usually let the sponge cool for another two minutes before I remove it from the microwave. Be very carefully because it could still be hot.

Once the sponge is completely cooled down it can be used again. Now you have a sterilized sponge.
